Jennifer Harcarik

Jennifer Harcarik is a storyteller who writes about resilience, identity, and the search for belonging. She is the creator of Mismothered, a project dedicated to giving voice to the often invisible wounds of conditional love and to building spaces of honesty and compassion.

The results of the San Diego Memoir Writers Association Annual Contest were announced in September 2025, and Jennifer was awarded a publication spot. Her excerpt, “If You’re a Decent Person,” from Mismothered, will be published in Shaking the Tree, Volume IX, curated by the San Diego Memoir Writers Association. This milestone marks a meaningful step in sharing her story, and she is deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with readers and fellow writers.

When she's not writing, Jennifer draws on her background as an educator, advocate, and lifelong learner to connect with others on their journeys of survival and self-discovery. She serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) with Voices for Children and serves on the Advisory Board for Hospice of the Valleys, reflecting her deep commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families in her community. Jennifer lives in Temecula, California, with her husband and their two dogs, Phoebe and Ellie, where she enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and staying actively involved in community service.
